Who is the South African Iron and Steel Institute (SAISI)?
The South African Iron and Steel Institute (SAISI) is a non-profit, pro-competition and
non-governmental representative organisation serving the collective
interests of the primary steel industry in South Africa.
SAISI was established in 1962 as the South African Rolled Steel
Producers Co-ordinating Council. In 1995 the name was changed to the
South African Iron and Steel Institute.

SAISI makes the SAISI Bursary available each year for the first year of study in metallurgical engineering
at the University of Pretoria (UP). SAISI’s members fund the bursaries which are fully administered by the university. Address all inquiries to the
