17 June 2014 - Steel import statistics released for April 2014
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) amount to 48 194 tonnes during April 2014.
According to data released by the South African Revenue Service, imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) amount to 48 194 tonnes during April 2014, a decrease of 12,7% compared with 55 207 tonnes imported during March 2014 and a decrease of 71,1% compared with 166 481 tonnes imported during April 2013.
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) during the first four months of 2014 amount to 326 040 tonnes, a decrease of 30,5% compared with 468 788 tonnes of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the corresponding period of 2013.
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) during the twelve months May 2013 to April 2014 amount to1 196 864 tonnes, an increase of 17,2% compared with 1 021 165 tonnes of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the corresponding twelve month period.
