3 July 2015 - Steel import statistics released for May 2015
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) amount to 108 188 tonnes during May 2015.
According to data released by the South African Revenue Service, imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) amount to 108 188 tonnes during May 2015, an increase of 6,9% compared with 101 187 tonnes imported during April 2015 and an increase of 60,8% compared with 67 293 tonnes imported during May 2014.
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) during the first five months of 2015 amount to 666 317 tonnes, an increase of 69,4% compared with 393 333 tonnes of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the corresponding period of 2014.
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) during the twelve months June 2014 to May 2015 amount to 1 311 411 tonnes, an increase of 15,7% compared with 1 133 480 tonnes of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the corresponding twelve month period.
